The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, (ACSO) is an accredited full service “5C” law enforcement agency having primary responsibility for Criminal, Corrections, Communications, Civil and Court Security functions. Not every Sheriff’s Office has all these responsibilities. The size and scope of ACSO falls within the top one third of the 67 Sheriff’s Offices in the State. The ACSO is a well managed professional, progressive and high achieving agency with a focus on protection and service. It is an agency of over 900 employees which works in cooperation with nine local municipalities: Alachua, Archer, Gainesville, Hawthorne, High Springs, Lacrosse, Micanopy, Newberry and Waldo; and seven area law enforcement agencies: Alachua, Gainesville, High Springs, Santa Fe College, University of Florida, Veterans Administration Hospital and Waldo Police Departments.
