Alachua County Sheriff Sadie Darnell files to run for re-election | Gainesville.com

Alachua County Sheriff Sadie Darnell has filed the required paperwork to begin campaigning for a third term in office. Darnell, a Democrat, filed on Wednesday. A veteran of the Gainesville Police Department, Darnell was first elected in 2006 to finish out the term of former Sheriff Steve Oelrich, who left office to make a successful run for the Florida Senate. Darnell was subsequently re-elected in 2008. She is the second of the incumbent Alachua County constitutional officers to file paperwork required to begin a re-election campaign. Property Appraiser Ed Crapo filed the paperwork in April.
